Months ago I made a makeshift bench light from some high-CRI LED strips and a driver I found on Amazon. Stuck it to a 1x4 and hung it from the ceiling.

Then I built a nice electronics workbench, but the crappy light stayed on.

Today I started building a replacement. The LEDs are inside diffuser channels, the rows are further apart, so the light should be more even and diffuse over the bench. I think it’ll be nice.

Have some before & WIP pics. Excuse the messy bench.

Feeling even better about my decision to stick with MiLight/Miboxer bulbs and LED strips (+an ESP8266 running Milight Hub). I have yet to be disappointed by them, and it's all local RF, no cloud anything, plus real remotes with RGBW controls, not just apps.

I figured Hue would pull something like this eventually.

Have any tips for me? I think some kind of jig that holds the pads and wires together while separating the pads to keep the solder separate would make this faster and more reliable. I could drop a piece of solder wire over each pad to melt with an iron. Maybe I could shape ceramic to do this. Does something already exist? #soldering #ledlighting

Not sure if there is much of an #LED Mastodon, but if so, I'd love it if you knew of a *super bright* addressable LED that's out there. From what I can tell, there's not much that's significantly brighter than the WS2812B I use. But I'd love to find it if it exists! #LEDlighting
