@zwarf I also have a #Librem5, and do not use it yet for collecting.

But I should start doing it, as the GPS works very well on my new #Librem5.

There is somewhere an app for this, but you have to build the application yourself. I did not try that yet. It would be great if this app was available in repositories, or as flatpak.

Unfortunately, I cannot recall now the name of the application. I will try to find it.

Read the April Crimson development report by #Purism.

Crimson will be the next version of PureOS, the operating system for Purism devices like the freedom respecting Librem 5.

There have been several #Linux kernel improvements for the #Librem5 phone.

Work on packaging continues.

Thanks to all who made this possible, by their work on this, by their subscriptions, or otherwise!

@fraggle
I would say: phones like the #PinePhone and #Librem5 pave the way to a #freedom and #privacy respecting mobile ecosystem.
I use the #Librem5 as my daily phone, and if you are willing to accept some inconvenience to gain freedom on your phone, I highly recommend this phone.
I'm in full control, I can call, SMS, use Signal desktop, listen to radio and podcasts, navigate, record my jogs, view a map, chat, browse, email, access contacts. And I have full #root access out of the box.

So yesterday I saw a @postmarketOS toot about their web flasher for Android devices, and I thought - how hard would it be to make one for L5? Turns out - not hard at all. Here it is booting Jumpdrive.

Some caveats:
- requires permission setting on Linux 😔 I may work out-of-box on other platforms though
- it's sloooow, but there's hope: github.com/WebAssembly/design/
- asks 5 times to allow access to the device. Could go down to 3, but no less than that.

🇺🇸 How a $2,000 'Made in the USA' Phone Is Manufactured

「 It’s the Liberty Phone, which is made by a company called Purism. The phone is a version of Purism’s Librem 5. The Made-in-China Librem 5 costs $800, and the Liberty phone costs $2,000. It has 4 GB of memory, and reviewers say that its specs are pretty outdated 」
