Bobbing Boat<p>Bradley Workshop is where Canal &amp; River Trust uses oak, steel, and plastic to make its "smaller" lock gates weighing up to 1½ tonnes (1⅔ tons). This Is My Glasgow<p>They were widely used in Scotland for accessing common areas like tenement closes between the late 18th Century and the start of the 20th Century as they were cheaper and more robust than more traditional locks, since they had no moving parts and replacement keys could be simply be cast from existing ones. This Is My Glasgow<p>Odell's nightlatches had a complex-shaped ward inside them (top right - not from the same door) which was mirrored by the spaces in their associated key (bottom right). This allowed a key to be inserted into the base of the T-shaped hole and then be slid upwards over the ward to release the latch (not shown). This Is My Glasgow<p>This unusual T-shaped keyhole (left) is part of an Odell's nightlatch.
