'I won!' #Honours system loses its sense of modesty

Why would any of us be surprised that there are companies that help with nominations for an #honour, with price menus between £2,500 & £40,000 for applications for awards such as a #CBE , #MBE or #OBE

One agency claims it has a 65% success rate for its services for helping with honours applications

It aint what you do, its how much money you pay.... #corruption

Wishing a wonderful birthday to #WAAF #PippaLatour, the last surviving female #WW2 #SOE special agent.
#MBE #legiondhonneur#botd 1921, Pippa joined the SOE following her godmother’s suicide after being imprisoned.
She parachuted into #OccupiedFrance before #DDay, hiding strips of coding silk inside her shoe laces & to tie up her hair.
Chatting to German soldiers she learnt then encoded military intelligence which helped guide bombing missions.

Thinking of Marie McCourt as today is the 2nd anniversary of Helen’s Law being added to the Statute Book.

I was disheartened when her daughter’s killer was released from prison despite not disclosing her whereabouts, more so when he died taking this secret with him.

I’m so glad her campaigning for Helen’s Law and Support After Murder and Manslaughter Merseyside has been recognised by being appointed MBE in the King's New Year Honours List.

What's the most productive part of a class? When do students learn the most?

I've often heard "the research shows" that the first and last five minutes have the greatest effect.

I looked into that research.

Preview: not a persuasive claim.

(I think ALL minutes can be equally productive if we plan correctly.)
