MobilizeMedicaid Monday! · MobilizeWhat: Protest with Flathead Democracy and 50501MT and Medical Device Drive for the Veterans Pantry! When: Monday, May 19, 5-6 pm Where: Intersection of hwy 2 and Nucleus in Columbia Falls (we will fill all sidewalks on all four corners!) Why: Protect Medicaid! Tell our Congressional Reps: Zinke, Daines, and Sheehy, NO cuts to Medicaid or we WILL take your seats from you!! Stop funding trillions in giveaways for Billionaires and Big Corporations with the People’s $$! Bring a sign demanding Zinke, Daines, and Sheehy vote to protect federal funding for Medicaid. Montana has already voted to keep Medicaid expansions at the state level, but it doesn’t matter if the federal gov doesn’t fund the program! It’s time to make our voices heard! We are committed to peaceful protest and we ask everyone to stay on pedestrian walkways and follow traffic laws for the safety of yourself and others. Please bring a drink and snack and dress for unpredictable Montana spring weather! There will not be a march or rally with this event but we will be using our phones to send an email to our congressional reps. We are also asking attendees to donate new or gently used medical devices for the Veterans Pantry Medical Supply closet (in Kalispell). They take most medical devices but their most popular requests are for: commode with bucket and lids, shower chairs, canes, transfer benches, knee walkers, I-walk (pirate peg legs for knee to rest on while foot heals). Bring them to the event and we will take them to the Veterans Pantry! We are ALSO collecting unexpired, unopened OTC medications for the Flathead Warming Center and the Abbie Shelter. Most requested items are: first aid items, pain relievers, cold and flu meds (for adults & kids), antibiotic ointment, natural sleep meds, and teeth numbing gel. Please feel free to park on the street nearby or at a business if you plan to patronize them as well. There is also a city park Marantette that has parking and in the surrounding neighborhoods. Email Flatheaddemocracy@gmail.com if you’re interested in volunteering logistics or donating supplies. There will also be a community sign making event on the evening of Saturday May 17. If you are on our email list we will email you details and if you’re not on our list, email flatheaddemocracy@gmail.com for instructions. Also email us if you’re interested in getting involved in the planning of the sign making event!
