This Sunday was demolding time for Thuh current project. And it's looking pretty neat 🥳 Ok I'm revealing already a little to much in the pics. The next time you'll see this Bad Boy it will polished, pristine, finished and available :thinkerguns:

This is what the bottom looks like. I tried to make the resin as pigmented as possible to hide the electronics. When lit up and looked at in the dark, the electronics become somewhat visible as a silhouette.

It is done \o/

This is a goodbye present for my friend and colleague, who will resign her job next week. She is a huge #Minecraft fan, so I made her an #axolotl out of epoxy resin, put it in a fancy resin cube and lit the whole thing up with addressable LEDs. I would have used simple fairy lights, but I didn't have any 🙈 ... So I used what I found in my cupboard, which was WS2812B's and an Arduino Nano.

Making the axolotl was a bit of an experimental adventure, but it worked well.

I call it cute-alotl, because it turned out way too cute 🙈

It has two USB ports at the back, one for programming the Arduino and the other for power. Unfortunately the Arduino cannot power the required 1.5A for the LEDs.

It also has glow in the dark powder mixed into two back walls, so it will continue to glow when powered off.

Today has been a good at the maker space, one member was rebuilding their bbq in the welding area, another was repairing a fan, I was working on my little d-bit cutters, and a group of young students were working on doing the composite lay up of a part for a solar powered boat.

I love the way people are working on such varied and interesting projects. The community of support and knowledge sharing is also wonderful.

Today has been a good day.

Things! I made things!! I pair of custom D bit cutters. The top one is 88° and designed for deburring 90° holes. The lower one is 92° and is for milling mitre channels in brass.

They still need hardening, and sharpening, and in the case of the deburring one, gluing into the handle.

But I'm pleased with where I got them to today.

Finally actually achieved something in the workshop. Been stuck in such a rut recently.

Whilst I've not been making much recently. I did reorganise my member box. I used to have one 35l XL really useful box with everything in it. I've now added a 9l box and put all my machining tools in there. For most projects I only need this box, and it's a lot easier to grab from the shelf and take to the machines. I may want to 3s print some organiser bits in there for the collets etc... too. But for now. It's a good quality of life improvement.

It's Friday and my multiple step 🦿 🦵🏻 🦿 casting on my current project is done :catjam: I even build a little slope to get the top at the last step level. In a few days unmolding and see what the result will be 😱. Enjoy ur Friday!!

@MakersHour@cupoftea.social @makershour@a.gup.pe Q3: Imposter syndrome – I suffer really badly from this! Can you give any tips to other makers on how to beat this feeling?
#MakersHour
A3 I think it’s an integral part of #making to be honest. I often tell myself I am such a beginner and know so little I can’t really even be an imposter! Which is imposter imposter syndrome if you will. Perhaps we should turn it round and say we all *deserve* to make and we all deserve to be treated as the experts we actually are. Putting this into practice in my brain is another thing entirely.
