Shells - leave them by the shore

"This summer, please leave the sea shells by the seashore. Someone needs that shell more than you. For native wildlife, both occupied and unoccupied shells provide important shelter and sources of calcium and grit."

"If you absolutely must pick something up and take it home, please pick up some of the vast amount of plastic found on Australian beaches."

by #MarineParks and a plan to transfer those currently held captive to #SeaPens so that they can spend the remainder of their lives in, at least, a more natural environment.

But what happens to the animals? #Marineland has announced plans to relocate all 4,000 animals, including #dolphins, #SeaLions, #turtles, and #fish, to new homes in existing facilities. • Tasmanian research found seismic blasting also triggers extensive death in #plankton, including #krill, which are crucial foundations of #MarineFoodWebs, from more than a kilometre away.

There is a proposal for seismic blasting over 45,000 sq km of ocean between #Victoria and #Tasmania by joint venture #TGS/#SLB-Schlumberger , which would see seismic blasting over commonwealth #MarineParks and #endangered #BlueWhale feeding areas. 🐋

DOLPHINS SUFFER AT MARINE PARKS

Imagine living your entire life in your living room, the vast world outside becoming an alien concept. For #dolphins in #MarineParks, this analogy becomes a harsh reality. Confined within the limited dimensions of an artificial enclosure, these sentient creatures endure a daily assault of bright lights and booming noises, while their instinctive urge to explore and socialize is constantly thwarted.
