here in Canada, where there is a massive #measles outbreak in Ontario, people are deliberately exposing their children to measles so that they can build immunity. Which is literally the definition of inoculation. Which can be done *without* risking brain damage or deafness or facing years of immune amnesia. From a Gen X measles survivor whose immune amnesia led, via a daycare Coxsackie outbreak, to severe meningitis: people, please inoculate your kids the safe and easy way, with #vaccines.
This is a helpful little article because it says the fomites can still infect you if you touch them within two hours of them being deposited on the surface.
I really hate the title of this article though. Measles didn’t visit Boston. An infected disease spreader knowing they were sick visited Boston and spread the measles.
Also what happens to the people who have to do a 21 day quarantine? How do they brace for that if they’re going to lose their job for not going to work?

One in ten of those children who died of #measles this season, for whom vaccination status is known, were vaxed against measles.
One in ten. Extrapolated to all pediatric measles mortality, that'd be ballpark 25 vaccinated kids dead of measles.
Maybe two dozen families who lost a child because #PublicHealth stops at individual actions.

The confirmed* #measles count in the US so far in 2025 (*undoubtedly an underestimate) stands at 1197 as of 6/12, per #CDC. Another 78 cases would surpass the 2019 count, which is currently the highest yearly total since measles elimination in the US in 2000 — & we're not yet 6 months into the year.
People cite Texas but Alberta has #measles rates not seen since the 70s. A large proportion of Albertans will also be surprised by the effects of climate change as droughts and heat wave frequency increase affecting crop production.
