This is a lovely old <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/door?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#door</a> from the Mosque-Cathedral or <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Mezquita?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Mezquita</a> with details of <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/MoorishArchitecture?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#MoorishArchitecture</a>. In fact, it's one of the oldest surviving gates of the former mosque! The door's decoration dates back to 855 when it was known as Bab al-Wuzara ("Viziers' Gate"). Lots of Al-Andalus state officials used to enter the mosque here. The Great Mosque of Córdoba was converted into a Catholic <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/cathedral?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#cathedral</a> in the 13th century. Mark PriorToday's <a href="https://ohai.social/tags/PhotoOfTheDay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#PhotoOfTheDay</a> is from inside the Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba and is of Al-Hakam II's stunning mihrab. RichardHey everyone! This is such an impressive place, but so frustrating to photograph. I was forbidden from taking my tripod inside so just wasn’t able to get the shots I wanted. I’d love to return and be able to take some photographs with my iPhone.
