Chris<p>From a privacy-focused perspective, <a href="https://mastodontech.de/tags/MicroG" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MicroG</span></a> clearly has the advantage. While Google <a href="https://mastodontech.de/tags/PlayServices" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PlayServices</span></a> even when sandboxed, are still designed to collect certain telemetry and diagnostics, MicroG deliberately avoids collecting or transmitting such data.</p><p>MicroG is intentionally designed to replicate only the essential APIs required for app compatibility. It excludes the broader telemetry and analytics components that are deeply embedded in the official Google Play Services.</p>
Chris<p>After discussing with @GrapheneOS about sandboxed <a href="https://mastodontech.de/tags/PlayServices" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PlayServices</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodontech.de/tags/MicroG" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MicroG</span></a> which one is more privacy friendly, they blocked me. 😂 Obviously they don't tolerate criticism.
