@nitpicking @JessTheUnstill the good part about #microSD is that it's a super tiny storage media...
Tho ideally I'd disrecommend trafficking storage entirely for health and safety reasons.
Switch 2: Storage Issues and Backward Compatibility
A little bit more about the Switch 2? Sure why not?
First thing. I've mentioned this on social media, and I want to spread the word as much as I can about it, because this is going to catch people by surprise, and this way as many will find out about it going in as possible. In addition to cost

@voxel @thenewoil personally, I refuse to buy any #phone that doesn't have #toolfree swappable & removeable batteries as a matter of principle.
I just don't accept #Enshittification!
Agreed. My favourite [1] thing is MicroSD cards, when you try to push them into the spring-loaded receptacles with a fingernail because there's zero clearance, and since you can't be 100% perfectly straight, the card just ... snaps. Let's make the shell out of the crappiest weakest plastic we can find...
A 5-1/4" floppy could practically be folded in half, straightened out, and still be readable.
[1] Not actually favourite.
I've been using RUFUS, but saw Etcher and thought, shiny, let's try it, then I catch this 411, and all those happy thoughts went away.
So yeah dammit, this is why we can't have nice things.

@krutonium @quasigod I mean the advantage is that those devices are supported with @GrapheneOS ...
Personally, I need my #ToolfreeSwappableBattery, #DualSIM and #microSD as well s #HeadphoneJack and won't negotiate these, so #Fairphone is already loosing me as a customer and my next device will likely be something else...
#Amazon #Kindle)!
@Linux_Is_Best personally, I'm sad #GrapheneOS is only available for very few devices, none of which are repairable or have the required feature set I need (real #DualSIM, 3,5mm TRRS Jack, toolfree-swappable battery, #microSD slot)...
Progress. I remember being excited about the 10MB card. 'Wow, the space of 8 floppy disks in such a small size, amazing'. :)
My son got a GoPro for Christmas. He asked me, "Dad, do you have a #flashcard I can use for my new camera?"
My old 32GB #microSD that I paid over $200 for years ago had errors so I went online to buy a new one:
$39 for 512GB.
I consciously know flash memory #prices halve every year but never in my WILDEST DREAMS did I expect half a TB for the price of a light LA dinner - so small I could accidentally swallow it.
(Note: I still recall being stunned by the 256K RAM chip back in 1982 so...)
@dalias @StryderNotavi @gantua given that early versions of the #RaspberryPi could be crashed / kernel panic'd with a xenon flash, I'd not be surprised of that possibility.
Add to that a card that just barely keep up with it and we get those too tight tolerances between the two, so yeah, it all comes together.
I'd not be surprised if #SlotRadio would've survived longer as some #PrisonTech- style #transparent #player because a #microSD - unlike a #CD - can't really be turned into an improvised weapon.
Just like what happened with #Tapes in #prisons in the #USA...
Personally, I think #SlotMusic is okay and #SlotRadio is gimmicky, but apparently #Techmoan likes it because it's a way to #discover new #music and #artists...
But then again, 500-1.000 popular tracks for like $40 MSRP (or 4-8¢/track) is a bargain and had they not kneecapped it with #DRM and the limitations, it would've been "cheaper and more convenient than using #BitTorrent"...
