It's been awhile since I took the kids to a 'child casino'. 😆

I wasn't quite sure how they'd react, given the immense sensory overload. They 💕 noise. Sometimes. 🙃

This adventure they didn't want to play but rather roam the aisles. At one point, I thought Jake was overwhelmed. He took over Julia's wheelchair and started to run for the exit. But no... he just wanted to race push her through the maze of it all. I didn't think I'd get them out.

Local.

Reminder about the 5K race coming up for those who are interested. Oct. 29th

I'm not going to be able to attend but both of my kids have received toys and love during their hospital stays at Wesley through this program.

❤️Small things are meaningful.❤️

Jake and Julia were 16 weeks premature. 111 days in the NICU. ~But that was only the beginning of a very complicated lifestyle as micro-preemie survivors.

October, already?! 😎 🍂

As an adventurer, it's hard to stay indoors during this time of year because the weather here in Kansas is gorgeous. But as a writer, the hashtag prompt challenges make life interesting.

Love the undiscovered talent here! ❤️

For us, it wasn't the last time we were in a hospital.

Communication disorders, physical and intellectual disabilities may bring additional life challenges, but some things are clear to see. They may be considered blind but I am not.

Yesterday was definitely an odd smoky day. This video captures an authentic view because I was outside in many parts of the city - so I had a large-scale view and trying to explain it to others was difficult.

We see a lot of unique weather and socio-environmental challenges here in Kansas but it was so eerie. Really put a damper on activities but also the kids have chronic lung issues from their prematurity so another factor I have to consider.

Jake is doing fine. We did have one small, unexpected adventure today. Julia's medical clearance forms for playing Supercolts basketball (high school disability league) came in. There were additional checks necessary due to her medical conditions. So we got to visit the school district's new health clinic. Which I love. 😍

Having accessible medical care within a familiar structure, really helps kids and families.
