Putting back a washed rug under a computer desk.
Option A: undo all wiring, move the desk.
Option B: Crawl under the desk and lift it with your neck.
Option B it is.

Well, that's new...
My musical choices on youtube just triggered it's suicide prevention splash page and a "You are NOT alone" banner on the subsequent content pages.
Now I feel like I've alarmed someone unnecessarily and have an overwhelming urge to explain that I'm not feeling suicidal, I just like quiet, pensive music.
I suppose I should also thank them for making me experience teen-panic one more time in my life.
I wonder if I would be able to recognize some of my closest friend’s handwriting. Damn shame.
"The working conditions around here are inhuman." <beep!>
Sometimes the jokes just write themselves, don't they?

Reconnecting with that one time the whole gang got totally blotto and decided to go see #TimeBandits then walked into the wrong theater and wound up rolling on the floor through the entirety of #ModernProblems instead...
Warning: Available entropy is low.
There are days when I have to consider that maybe smartphones have contributed a bit to some of the modern problems we see. Then there are the days when I've bought a bunch of groceries, realized I forgot my wallet, and then I give thanks to the gods of technology for bequeathing this magic device into my hands.
Well that's fun. I just read that there AI's can hallucinate, i.e. generate responses that are not reflective of the source data. What could go wrong?

Today the town lost power, which is not a new phenomenon. This time it was during the night. With the lost power the internet is also gone, since there is no power to power the radio towers. If one has access to satellite this probably would persist as long one is accessing it directly to the device.
The first thing I grabbed was my headlamp which is located in my ruck that was close by. Then I went to check if the power outage was my fault before checking outside to see if the street lights are still on.
Scrambled to go find a candle before contemplating what to do next. Either I can wait about four hours until the electricity is up and running or I could go to the next town over which still has its lights on thus most likely also access to internet.
It is quite interesting how dependent we have become to electricity especially in a home setting. When out in nature it is expected not to have electricity, thus there is no shock.
The good thing is that I train regularly how to live without power, so I knew exactly how to react during the initial outage.
Wanting to post a meme but the alt text would be too long to type on my phone (and can't be detected from the image), so I have to wait till I get to my laptop. #ModernProblems
Does anyone else go to look for something on the Interweb, promptly get distracted, and forget what you were looking for?
A decade or so ago, Pence running for President would be considered insane and an absolute disaster to anything involving race or sexual orientation to name just two issues. Now, compared to some of the other GOP candidates, he seems "sane".
What a crazy world, where politics have been reduced to choosing the lesser of evils.
I do not wish to work today. Instead, I want to hide over here in the dark and listen to The Clash on my headphones.
Why won’t the universe give me THIS ONE THING?!?!

@crazybutable @Remittancegirl This is terrific, John. I feel #ChatGPT will eventually serve as a tool for first drafts, the skill being in determining inputs and, as you indicate here, in corrections/rewrites. Outside of #education, I'm aware of several people who are already using it this way for business comms. I argued last month for a return to the in-class blue book essay but, yep, not every class can do this. #modernproblems
