Please enjoy this completed mosaic portrait of my grandson and I. This piece is made out of recycled plates, stained glass, and tile bits—purchased or repurposed. I affixed it to a 12”x12” cement paver so that it can be placed in my grandson’s garden. I hope it will bring him joy to remember our time together—especially as we slogged through the COVID pandemic in our family bubble.

This mosaic is affixed to a 12”x12” cement garden paver. The grout is dark gray. A baby wrapped in an orange, blue, and green floral and checked blanket is held by a grandmother wearing a large, floppy, cream-colored, straw hat. The smiling grandmother gazes down at the sleeping baby. The colorful background is horizontal stripes of orange, blue, green, and red tiles (based on the upholstery at a favorite Mexican restaurant). The piece is bordered in deep purple pieces from a recycled broken platter—to resemble looking through a window frame.
