Uli Kusterer (Not a kitteh)<p>Some people say you should read the book first, then watch the <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/movieAdaptation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>movieAdaptation</span></a>, so you get the "real" version first.</p><p>I prefer the reverse. Movies are good at action, but need to spend a lot of time illustrating internal thoughts, motivations.</p><p>Watch the movie first, and you're bound to get something deeper in the book, adding to the plot you already know.</p><p>If you read the book first, you know story and motivations. GayDeceiver<p>There are two types of sci-fi fans:</p><p>1. The ones who understand that movies must adapt the original works to create something that approximates what's on the page and are thankful they got a movie.</p><p>2. The ones who go entirely apoplectic because the movie "took liberties" and "totally destroyed" the work and "How dare they do that to [insert title here]!"</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/SciFi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SciFi</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/ScienceFiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ScienceFiction</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Movies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Movies</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/MovieAdaptation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MovieAdaptation</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/BookToScreen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BookToScreen</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Fans" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fans</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Trolls" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Trolls</span></a></p>
