What: Public Hearing on Discharge Permit for Ft. Belvoir

Why: The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has issued a draft pollution discharge permit for Fort Belvoir, a U.S. Army installation. If approved, this permit would allow Fort Belvoir to release toxic PFAS chemicals into local waterways, including Accotink Creek, the Potomac River, and the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem. The draft permit fails to mention PFAS.

DEQ knows Ft. Belvoir has PFAS contamination in groundwater, surface water, and soil because the D.O.D/U.S. Army has identified such. Additionally, Ft. Belvoir may still use firefighting foam containing PFAS in one of its airplane hangars.

#Österreich muss massiv sparen und streicht Förderungen für Familien, aber erhöht dabei das #Pendlerpauschale auf das DREIFACHE (ja, das stimmt schon, gilt für 🇦🇹) und schafft die #NoVA für kleine (praktisch alle mit #Diesel betrieben) #Nutzfahrzeuge.

Auch wurde die #Steuerbefreiung von der motorbezogenen #Versicherungssteuer für #eAutos abgeschafft.

In #Tirol (spar-Budget des Landes) wird sogar bei #Inklusion eingespart

Das #Dieselprivileg bleibt unangetastet, ebenso eine Besteuerung von #Vermögen! 🤬

Wieviele #Extremwetter braucht es noch bis zu einem Undenken??? Und wie stark müssen #Naziparteien noch werden weil "die kleinen" (Finanzschwache bis hin zur unteren Mittelschicht) unter die Räder kommen?

Wir werden es nicht schaffen! Bei beiden Themen nicht, bei Ersterem bin ich sogar davon überzeugt.

Budget bei Klima „wenig zukunftsfähig“

Am Dienstag hat die Regierung das neue #Doppelbudget vorgelegt, starke Einschnitte gibt es vor allem im #Klima- und #Umweltbereich. Im Gespräch mit ORF.at spricht #WIFO-Expertin Margit Schratzenstaller hier von einem „wenig zukunftsfähigen“ Budget. Vor dem Hintergrund, dass klimaschädliche Subventionen im Gegenteil sogar ausgebaut werden, ortet sie „ein gewisses Ungleichgewicht“. Mit großem Unverständnis reagierten auch zahlreiche Umwelt-NGOs.
Abschaffung des #Klimabonus, Halbierung des Klima- und #Energiefonds und Verteuerung des #Klimaticket's auf der einen, Verdreifachung des Pendler-Euros sowie Befreiung von der Normverbrauchsabgabe (#NoVA) auf der anderen Seite. Zwar sei es laut Schratzenstaller sinnvoll, einige Klimaförderungen zurückzufahren, dass „die ökologisch schädlichen Subventionen aber eben nicht angegangen, sondern im Gegenteil sogar noch ausgebaut werden“, stellt für die Budgetexpertin allerdings ein Ungleichgewicht dar.
