The wild bergamot is trying to escape into the tiny path I'm trying to keep these and the two coneflowers didn't bloom last summer (first year), but they definitely look well established now!

Two years ago I decided to slowly replace a big part of my originally bermuda grass-based lawn with frogfruit (Phyla nodiflora). This year is the first time I haven't seen any large clumps of bermuda grass in any section. There are still a few blades here & there, but it's clearly getting crowded out. Happy to have a lawn that I don't need to water that also actually benefits local pollinators now!
The front yard prairie is getting more beautiful with every passing day. The yarrow and geranium are starting to flower, as does the green needle grass. Sage is growing like crazy. Lots of grasshoppers (not pictured). #nativeplants #FrontYardPrairie #wildflowers #Bloomscrolling

Prairie Rose (probably Rosa arkansana). They seem to thrive by the edge of gravel roads.
My native red columbine, Aquilegia canadensis, is in full bloom.
The hairy beardtongue plants are attracting shiny pollinators to the habitat as they bloom. The rock garden has short prairie plants, granular soil, and rocks. #minnesota, #nativeplants, #pollinators.

It’s happening. I’m finally going to have Pawpaws! North America’s largest native fruit.
These tiny buckwheat flowers just opened in the last 24 hours
If you zoom in, some stamens are still squiggles like hearts, some have their pink anthers, and others have been harvested by the bees

June flowers, big and small, in the yard.
The peonies are bigger than my hand and of colors my phone camera can't seem to handle. I'm not sure the carpenter #bee liked the peony because it rolled on its back and started cleaning? its tongue. Is that a thing?
The Ohio spiderwort (Tradescantia ohiensis) has small purple flowers, barely larger than my finger tip, that only last a day. #NativePlants #gardening #NorthernIllinois
There's a chance I may someday soon see a leafcutter bee, in petal cutter action
This is one of dozens of Romneya flowers that has been visited
Hopefully this season, many small nests are being padded with petals
Here's a chance to get to know and tend native plants with LA Green Grounds

The beardtongue family of plants has good varieties. This is probably a hairy beardtongue plant. The pollinators are going to love these blossoms. #nativeplants, #minnesota, #Bloomscrolling.
