Lucas Lasota<p>This semester I advised a very good student working in an awesome research at <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://wisskomm.social/@HumboldtUni" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>HumboldtUni</span></a></span> involving <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/NetNeutrality" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NetNeutrality</span></a> and satellite networks.</p><p>The internet satellite market is following a route of concentration under the dominance of Starlink.</p><p>Therefore, several questions regarding basic aspects of net neutrality are still under a big question mark: </p><p>- Do end--users enjoy freedom of terminal equipment used to connect to the network? </p><p>- Can satellite ISPs prohibit the usage of third-party antenna and terminal equipment for internet connection?</p><p>- Would be possible to have satellite communication protocols based on open standards?</p><p>- Would satellite ISPs be compliant with the Open Internet Regulation?</p><p>These are interesting questions!</p>
