Forty years ago today on May 13th, 1985 New Order released their third album, Low-Life. This is the only New Order album to feature artwork featuring the band members. This is one of my favorite albums to put the headphones on - the stereo mix is excellent.

Fun fact: Before he would go on to win an Oscar for The Silence of The Lambs, Jonathan Demme directed the video for the single The Perfect Kiss.

40 years ago today, New Order released their third album, 'Low-Life', which saw the band seamlessly fuse rock and electronics and complete their transformation from post-punk to dance rockers.

Originally cut to less than 5 minutes and stylistically in stark contrast to the rest of the album, the full 17-minute version of cinematic instrumental heavyweight 'Elegia' still holds its own in the band's catalogue.

05. Elegia (Full Length Version)
