It is healthiest to, as <a class="hashtag" href="https://social.teci.world/tag/nickfury" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#NickFury</a> once put it, “accept the world as it is, not as we would like it to be”.</p><p>I understand to some extent wanting a social media experience that’s all candy corn and rainbows and (potentially toxic) positivity. I actually use personal alts for this very thing, they can be helpful ways to decompress and not deal with antagonistic content. But that is an entirely different thing than trying to impose your vision for social media onto everyone else.</p><p>We should not assume that everyone on the Internet is a child, neither literally or mentally, and if we set the Internet to be kid-friendly and kid-orient by default, we deincentivize maturity. It’s like child proofing your house when a 13-year-old nephew is coming over to visit.</p>
