We happen to live in an era when the #NorthernHemisphere #Summer starts nearly at the same time as #Aphelion. The #Earth will be at it's maximum distance from the #Sun on 5 July this year.
HAS MOVED This solstice morning there is, sadly, no spectacular sunrise where I am. But I got to see the bats doing their morning flight, and the birds are singing their wee hearts out. Beautiful in another way.

#NorthernHemisphere temperatures well beyond natural variability seen in tree rings.
The proxy data from the longest tree ring records can take temperatures back over 2,000 years to year 1 CE. Compared to that longer record, summer of 2023 was 2.2° C warmer.
