Sunset Sakura (:osm: Nelson)<p>Two weeks ago a new building construction was completed, and now is updated on OpenStreetMap. Google Maps' buildings are still very inaccurate and don't show the change except for the relocation of Westpac.</p><p><a href="https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=19/-41.272268/173.283551" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">openstreetmap.org/#map=19/-41.</span><span class="invisible">272268/173.283551</span></a></p><p><a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/OpenStreetMap" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OpenStreetMap</span></a> <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/OSMNelson" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OSMNelson</span></a> <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/Whakat%C5%ABNelson" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WhakatūNelson</span></a></p>
Sunset Sakura (:osm: Nelson)<p>I noticed a new area when I went out to Atawhai a few days ago, took some photos of it and have now mapped it on OpenStreetMap!</p><p><a href="https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=19/-41.236589/173.316709" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">openstreetmap.org/#map=19/-41.</span><span class="invisible">236589/173.316709</span></a></p><p><a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/OpenStreetMap" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OpenStreetMap</span></a> <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/OSMNelson" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OSMNelson</span></a> <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/Whakat%C5%ABNelson" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WhakatūNelson</span></a></p>
Sunset Sakura (:osm: Nelson)<p>Finally micromapped Queen's Gardens in <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/OSMNelson" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OSMNelson</span></a>. I collected gps track with my phone and <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/OSMTracker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OSMTracker</span></a> which informed me what paths exist, but it was very inaccurate so I didn't trace it.<br>Also made the fountain circle properly <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/MicroMapped" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MicroMapped</span></a> because it'll be beautiful :osm_intensifies:.</p><p>If you're ever in <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/Nelson" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Nelson</span></a>, be sure to visit Queen's gardens!<br> <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/Whakat%C5%ABNelson" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WhakatūNelson</span></a> <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/OpenStreetMap" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OpenStreetMap</span></a> <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/OSM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OSM</span></a></p>
Sunset Sakura (:osm: Nelson)<p>So in order to prove a point about <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/Whakat%C5%ABNelson" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WhakatūNelson</span></a> being too car-centric, I'm gonna make sure most of the surface level parking - street-side, lot and private - is mapped in <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/OSMNelson" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OSMNelson</span></a> to accurately illustrate "heres a building, and here's the same size of land as car parking for that building".<br><a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/OpenStreetMap" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OpenStreetMap</span></a> <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/CarDependency" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CarDependency</span></a> <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/Aotearoa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Aotearoa</span></a></p>
Sunset Sakura (:osm: Nelson)<p>Mapping the pedestrian areas and footpaths (sidewalks in osm) in <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/Whakat%C5%ABNelson" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WhakatūNelson</span></a> is very fun, I'm definitely upskilling my mapping!<br>By the way, I'm following <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/OpenSidewalks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OpenSidewalks</span></a> schema because it seems the best for people with disabilities and people who use wheelchairs or baby prams. <br>Doing centre Nelson City first, then will continue expanding outwards. Another local mapper is beginning around Tāhunanui as well.<br><a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/OpenStreetMap" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OpenStreetMap</span></a> <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/OSMNelson" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OSMNelson</span></a></p>

Organic Maps does NOT say what route those stops are a part of yet, it's in development, including a public transport routing engine. In the meantime, just visit <a href="https://ebus.nz" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">ebus.nz</span><span class="invisible"></span></a> .</p>
