<rant> Am I the only one that can't stand crafting in games?

I really loathe collecting whatsitz & thingamabobs all over a map simply to create a 100x sniper scope for a handcrafted 50-caliber shotgun or whatever the &%$# I have to make to get past a boss battle.

It's one of the reasons I rly enjoyed "Outer Worlds": It felt like Fallout 3. It's also the reason I stopped playing "Fallout 76" & "Starfield".

More story & lore... less hoarding & inventory mgmt, please.

Starsector (formerly "Starfarer") is still in development but it's been a seriously impressive game for years. Not yet on Steam or any other store, as you have to buy it direct, but don't let that stop you with a big update out now.

Help me, #gamers of the Fediverse!

I love big, #openWorld games where you travel to lots of places and explore different terrains and people groups — the classic examples being #Bethesda games like the #ElderScrolls (#Oblivion, #Skyrim) and #Fallout.

My only #gaming platform is my #SteamDeck. What other games should I look at that wlll give me this experience? Bonus points if (like Skyrim and unlike Fallout) the worlds are beautiful.

Old games are just fine, BTW.
