Personal $0.02: we don't need to provide a residence to the PM either. We need a place for the PM or GG or whoever to host formal state dinners and receptions and such, but there's no reason the PM has to live there, too.

The PM can rent or buy a condo in Ottawa like every other MP from around the country does to work there.

Fix or rebuild 24 Sussex to be a proper reception hall, use Stornoway as the temporary one while the repairs are in progress, then sell Stornoway when it's done.
