It's got inky blacks! It's gorgeous.</p><p>But it's completely ruined by this OLED protection thing where it forces you to shut it down for "several minutes" after it's been on for 16 hours (or thereabouts).</p><p>You know how Windows will be like "I'VE UPDATED, IT'S REBOOT TIME -- FUCK WHATEVER YOU'RE DOING". It's like that, but for your EYES. At least you aren't threatened with losing anything.</p><p>Except for the stream that got fucked up tonight because of it. It shuts down (not sleeps) during the procedure, so the monitor config gets all screwy. I'm blinded, but also the game we were playing tonight fucked off into an imaginary wonderland somewhere off-screen and never came back. I ended up just ending the stream early.</p><p>There's some settings around it but they aren't any better. I thought I had a fix by just shutting it off when I leave, since it's supposed to do it THEN, too, avoiding the need to schedule it later. But that only works some of the time... it's buggy.</p><p>So yeah, fuck this monitor. I'm aware of burn-in issues, but I know people with OLED TVs that don't have to deal with this kind of crap. Hell, my phone is OLED and it doesn't give a shit and that's got static elements on the screen all the time. (And you can say "oh but you have it in sleep mode most of the time, I bet, and yes, so why doesn't this monitor benefit from the same thing?)</p><p>I really wish I'd never gotten it, no matter how pretty it is. And we're past the return point.
