#moshpits lead to false 999 (112) calls - not because anyone is badly hurt, but some people are wearing #smart devices that assume the user has been in some kind of collision / accident and autodial the Emergency Services (and because its a festival location the operators have to assume its a genuine emergency call until advised otherwise)

While I don't expect much to come from the "SMART Legislation et al. v. Rockland County Board of Elections" case, it will be interesting to keep an eye on.

Even though the case advanced in May, I didn't find a lot of coverage of it outside the blogosphere. Newsweek did have an article about it:

Interestingly, it only showed up in a Bing search, but that might be because it is relatively new.

Anyone have a wired #smart #doorbell that they like?

A friend gave me his old Arlo kit and I installed the doorbell which is working, but it's practically useless without the subscription. Notifications and a live view is all it does.

I would like local recording and I'd rather not have to buy additional gear to use it (so no Unifi no matter how awesome you think it is). HomeKit secure video is a plus, but not necessarily required. Oh and it needs to work with my existing mechanical chime.

Smartness at a new level?
Wild cockatoos in Sydney, Australia have learned to drink from twist-handle water fountains, turning the knob with their feet and using their body weight to keep it open. They even queue to have a drink, waiting to take turns on the fountain, footage shows.
