Alex Kidman<p>MyGov scams proliferate because people don't know how to spot them. I got a scam (and spotted it), but I've used it to write a quick guide to help others avoid them. Might seem obvious to you... but these work because people fall for them, and I HATE that this happens.</p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/scam" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>scam</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/scamemail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>scamemail</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/mygov" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mygov</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Australia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Australia</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://alexreviewstech.com/how-to-spot-a-fake-mygov-email/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">alexreviewstech.com/how-to-spo</span><span class="invisible">t-a-fake-mygov-email/</span></a></p>
Emily Gladstone Cole<p>On this "beware of the internet" day, I wanted to share a scam email I got yesterday. It looked really convincing.</p><p>1. It had the email address of my actual amazon account (redacted).<br>2. Branding etc. was very nice.</p><p>Issues with it:<br>1. The from address, of course, was not legit.<br>2. Normal emails from Amazon start "Hello Emily" not "Hi &lt;email address&gt;.<br>3. The signoff said "sincerly" not "sincerely".<br>4. It was telling me I had to do something urgently or I would lose access.</p><p><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/AprilFoolsDay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AprilFoolsDay</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/ScamEmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ScamEmail</span></a></p>
