AskPippa🇨🇦<p>Here is the cover for *From Typewriters to Twitter:Celebrating 50 Years of Science Writing* -- my pet project during the pandemic. (Pretty excited about this)</p><p>This might be the only book that chronicles science writing/ <a href="https://c.im/tags/scicomm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>scicomm</span></a> in <a href="https://c.im/tags/Canada" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Canada</span></a> A digital version is available for free to members of the SWCC (after you log onto the website a link should appear under About). Non-members should contact the association directly and ask (not sure if there's a small fee or if it's free too?). 92 pages, lots of historical photos, short bios of some extraordinary and often eccentric and high-profile writers who helped shaped Canada's science writing landscape. Controversies! Romance! Serious stuff! Fun stuff! The impactful awards program! This book had input from over 20 people who played various roles in the association. This isn't an in-depth analysis, but chronicles important events and an evolving media association. There are no plans at this point for a print copy, but if interested send a note to the SWCC office expressing interest.</p><p>Members, log in at: <a href="https://sciencewriters.ca/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">sciencewriters.ca/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p>Non-members, contact (it may take a couple of days for a response): office@sciencewriters.ca </p><p><a href="https://c.im/tags/journalists" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>journalists</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/journalism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>journalism</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/history" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>history</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/scienceliteracy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>scienceliteracy</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/sciencewriter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>sciencewriter</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/ScienceUpFirst" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ScienceUpFirst</span></a> @press <a href="https://c.im/tags/press" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>press</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/media" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>media</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/Quebec" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Quebec</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>books</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/Authors" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Authors</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/smallpress" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>smallpress</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/publishing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>publishing</span></a></p><p>No alt text provided for this image</p>

KateMarie<p><a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/introduction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>introduction</span></a> Hi! I’m Kate and I am a <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/scientist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>scientist</span></a> with an interest in <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/extracellularvesicles" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>extracellularvesicles</span></a> in the fields of reproduction and immunology. I recently took my first non-academic job as a <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/sciencewriter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>sciencewriter</span></a> after a couple of postdocs when I moved from the UK to New Zealand.<br>I’ll mostly be talking science, politics (left wing, of course) and anything to do with my hobbies which mostly consist of being a geeky plant lover. Which basically means I love TTRPG, board games, video games and anything arty.</p>
