sgt1372<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://sfba.social/@OldAndCranky" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>OldAndCranky</span></a></span> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Shogun2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Shogun2</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/FX" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FX</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Hulu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Hulu</span></a></p><p>I like Shogun2 much better than <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Shogun1" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Shogun1</span></a> because Shogun2 focuses on the Japanese (and their political, personal, historical, cultural perspectives) contrary to Shogun1 which focused mainly on what <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/RichardChamberlain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RichardChamberlain</span></a> did &amp; thought, which made sense then but makes it come off as unsatisfyingly EuroCentric now.</p><p>The actor who plays Lord Tornaga in Shogun2 is <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/HiroyukiSanada" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HiroyukiSanada</span></a>, who played supporting roles in <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/JohnWick4" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>JohnWick4</span></a> (2023), <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/BulletTrain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BulletTrain</span></a> (2022), <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/AvengersEndGame" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AvengersEndGame</span></a> (2019) &amp; <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/TheCatcherWasASpy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TheCatcherWasASpy</span></a> (2018) Before that he played the leader of the ronin band in <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/47Ronin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>47Ronin</span></a> (2015).</p><p>While Sanada is convincing as Lord Toranaga in Shogun2, no one IMO could play the role better than <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/ToshiroMifune" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ToshiroMifune</span></a> did in Shogun1.</p><p>I didn't like the defeatist attitude that Toranga takes on in the last episode of Shogun2 but that apparently was a ploy to put his enemies off guard, since the next episode is called <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/CrimsonSky" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CrimsonSky</span></a> which, if you've been watching the show, you should know what that implies.</p>
