If you keep getting caught with no sign or a hasty sign, now is the time to prep for the next protest. Put some time into it - believe me, people will show their appreciation. Press your family and friends to do the same.</p><p>So many older white liberals were raised in respectability politics and are terrified of speaking baldly. This is the NYT 'gotta hear both sides' effect. This is the overintellectualism of upper class liberals, wanting to 'learn all the facts and preserve neutrality'. They are afraid to speak truth and they are learning a painful lesson in their sideline complicity.</p><p>Seeing signage that calls a <a href="https://beige.party/tags/fascist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fascist</span></a> spade a fascist spade is so important for these reticent people to loosen up and let go of their fear of being 'biased'. We need people to pick a side and the people at protests that are displaying unequivocal denunciations are helping loosen up the minds of people who got rich and comfy in the white suburban 90s and still have cold feet about openly defying a dictator.</p><p>Signs are a great way for the protests to grow over time, as bystanders are drawn in by playful, incisive commentary. Its a great way to show that we can be simultaneously angry and have a sense of fun humanity. Its an open invitation to speak truth in a way that our society desperately respresses.</p><p>Lean into your craftiness. Learn a new artistic skill. Make it crass and cutting. Make it cutesy and playful. Make it showy and waterproof it. Be clever. Be incisive. What to do if someone does something you don't like:
1. MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS
We're all here for the same cause. There is no legal requirement to alert police to potentially illegal activity.
2. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE
If someone’s behavior raises your risk level beyond what you're comfortable with, leave the situation and head to a safer space.
3. ASK FOR SUPPORT .
If someone’s behavior raises your risk level and you're unable to leave, ask for support from the people around you or see if the person is able to accommodate your needs.
4. RESPECT DIVERSE TACTICS
Engage with curiosity about people who do things differently from you. What motivates them to be courageous in the face of police violence?
5. KEEP COMRADES INVISIBLE
If someone needs to blend into the crowd quickly, help them. Learn about de-arresting and support people who are being targeted. Together, we can be powerful, strategic, and united.
