Wincher's Stance at Glasgow's Buchanan Bus Station. This statue was created in 1994 for the Strathclyde Passenger Transport Executive by John Clinch (yes, really!), and features a couple kissing in a close embrace, known locally as winching. I love the single tear, highlighted in polished bronze, running down the woman's cheek.

A statue of Thomas Carlyle in Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow created by William Kellock Brown and erected in 1916. Born in 1795 in Ecclefechan, Carlyle became a famous writer, historian and philosopher. While some of his views are no longer be acceptable, he changed the English language forever by coining words such as Environment, Captains of Industry, Visualise, Gullible, Improvised, Shiftiness, Decadent, Self-help, World-famous and Giggly.

#ThrowbackThursday #TBT: 7 years ago today we were in #Wrocław for an afternoon. There are more than 970 "Wrocław #dwarfs" all over the city, but I only snapped a few of these mini #bronze figurines, sorry!
