The last one in this mini-series. I can't remember which part of the flower is this but it definitely looked like a corona virus to me!
I've actually shot many other shots after this one, but so far, after inspecting them, I didn't find much interesting stuff there. So, until creativity hits again, I might re-check them at some other time. Now, I need to find other targets ASAP!

Hairy Stuff (2);

Probably the one I like the most in this mini-series. However, to salvage the shot, I had to do lot of sharpening here. Originally, the image was horizontal or landscape in orientation, but after cropping in 16:9, it just occurred to me that I might as well rotate it and make it in portrait or vertical. Tried to fix the colors and adjusting the white balance but the overall look turned quite cold and out of touch so I kept it as is.
Say... it looks like a duck head!

Hairy Stuff;

Sorry about the title, didn't find any better wording 😬
What you see here is a 5x magnification for part of a dead sunflower stem (which is full of hairy stuff that sting!). What's interesting is that tube-like hair string or something that seems hollow - I think this is originally to regulate the heat in the plant, maybe? It's just amazing to see such details.
The flower was already dead in the yard and a part of it fell. It was somewhat soft when I picked it up, and I kept it in the fridge to shoot it later. However, the memory is a mesh and I totally forgot about it till few days ago when I got it out and tried out some shots with a speedlite.
Now, to achieve that magnification (and if my calculation is correct), I've used my #Voigtländer 20mm in reverse coupled with a 36mm extension tube. I was lazy to use a rail, so the whole thing was cumbersome as I kept moving the tripod back and forth or hold the dead stem and get it closer and further manually. Meanwhile, lighting was done using 430EXII speedlite held in hand. This shot here is actually a combination of several shots with different lighting as I tried to get the best from each shot. Changing the angle of the lighting can be so dramatic in such extreme macro conditions!

Sunflower number two acquired! :neofoxfloofowo: I really like these tiny ones, they are about 20cm high. For some reason bumblebees ignore them. Maybe they will like my giant ones, currently in progress.

The bees however love my thyme. Seems the invasion force has finally found it. I almost gave up on it and thought it didn't survive the winter because it's kinda old by now, but with warm weather it suddenly exploded.

I really love the smell of blooming thyme. If you never had one, you should! They smell really lovely. :neofoxheart:
