With the thousands of stories from musicians, artists and bands I've heard in the past few years while researching for Subjam, there's one overwhelmingly recurring theme:

Artists need money to survive, but making anything that even remotely resembles a sustainable income in the music business is next to impossible.

Two friends of mine are part of a band called Noctambulist and after a long process and a lot of work they just released their second album last Friday.

And I'm in love with this record, it is a special mix between #postBlackMetal with a lot of #shoegaze. But next to the blackness there is room for beauty, light and hope, emotions that I usually don't associate with #blackMetal. But it really works.

The band themselves call their music: "The Cure, but with corpse paint"

I just quit my job.

I couldn't stay. It would eventually kill me, literally.

This is one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make.

I have a family. We can get through the next few months but after that is undefined.

I'm trying to play my cards right so Subjam gets the attention and boost it deserves. It's all I want to do.

I want to help people.

I am confident.
