Syncthing 2.0.0 bringt schnelles, privates Filesharing ohne Cloud !
Just noticed #Syncthing 2.0 is out. https://github.com/syncthing/syncthing/releases/tag/v2.0.0 I think I'll tread slowly here. It's a big change. "Database backend switched from LevelDB to SQLite"
2.0.0
. Happy Syncthing 2.0.0 day to those who celebrate it.
Upgrading on a Mac was as easy as a homebrew upgrade, stopping the old service, running syncthing by hand to migrate the database, and then restarting the service.
https://github.com/syncthing/syncthing/releases/tag/v2.0.0
**Update:** I had to `brew remove syncthing` and then `brew install syncthing` before restarting the service, before Homebrew would replace the outdated service command flags/options.

Maybe now is a good time to remind people that, if you're on a relatively small team, let's say you're working on a #godot game for example, you don't need #github, #gitlab, #gitea or any other centralized service. #git works great with #syncthing. Basically your remote is now a folder on your device and that folder is synced using syncthing.

@xk3 Indeed I do! My biggest use case is for my org-mode & org-roam notes. I frequently edit them from multiple devices, so something like #Syncthing or #Nextcloud isn't a great fit for this (due to possibilities of conflicts). git is.
But, when I'm ready to do a "git pull", I may have no Internet - be on a plane, or maybe one of the other machines in the cluster is powered down, etc.
This way, each machine receives diffs whenever it can, and I can effectively "git pull" when convenient.

Yay! I got my old #MBP fully configured the way I want it. Including autostart #SyncThing, fixing the keyboard maps so that Command does everything, the way it does on my #Mac. I wiped my old #Lenovo T14 back to standard spec and put it back in the pile at work. I don’t know why I was suddenly hot-to-drop-company-hardware but perhaps it’s a part of my claircognizance gift. Either way, all my computing resources are now mine. No borrower or lender be.
@Tutanota I use #keepassxc + #keepassdx + #syncthing instead #bitwarden
@pjf I'm using #syncthing to sync machines within my home network (but not yet outside it), and yes, it's great. Do strongly recommend.
(H'mmmm... actually, syncthing is potentially an excellent solution to the problem of letting less-technical people securely publish their updates to their websites on my server, which is a problem I've been thinking about a lot lately)
Holy smokes, our repair cafe group is using #SyncThing after I mentioned it, even though I mentioned it. I was not expecting this *at all*.
One of the members said they were sick of giving money to companies just so they could synchronise files, and so here we are!
I also discovered SyncThing is not a smooth setup process for non-tech people, especially on heterogeneous devices, although once that's done it works great.

There's a little more info and a direct to pdf link on my blog as well as links to Issue 1 which was a deep dive on Computational Fluid Dynamics with #FreeCAD.
