My #Dell is only a couple months away from no longer being able to extend my warranty for it (I bought it back in 2020). So, I thought, "I wonder if #System76 is finally offering workstation-replacement laptops with OLED screens". Went to check their site. And, while it seems like they might have higher-capability graphics options, it also seems like they only offer the better graphics on 17" laptops. I really prefer a minimal-bezel 15" range laptop. So, looking like System76 is still a non-option.

While I was
there, however, I did notice that they seem to be designing some of their actual desktop workstations to evoke the old NeXTStation cubes

Also a bit bummed to see that they have Instagram and Twitter accounts, but no Mastodon. Really seems odd that a maker of Linux hardware would only have presence on legacy social media and not Fedi.

I am disappoint.

#system76 I'm running Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS on multiple computers at home. After something like 17 years, my HP-1320 laser printer died. Since HP now allegedly prevents customers from using 3rd party ink cartridges or whatnot, I replaced it with a Brother HL-L2460DW, plugging it into an Ethernet connection.

Things worked so smoothly on a Thelio system that I skipped installing print drivers on a Pangolin laptop and it actually worked with nothing extra installed! Thanks to Linux developers!

Mending Wall v0.3.2 is now out with support for #COSMIC from #System76!

I've been wanting to try out the COSMIC alpha, so added support to Mending Wall to make it possible without risking my GNOME and KDE installs (desktop environments often interfere with each other). It woks!

Whoa! I just found out #System76 Launch
#keyboards have programmable layers! I never knew that! Why doesn't anybody talk about that?

It's basically the same size and key count as the #Logitech MX Keys for Mac that I have.

I also have a Moonlander from ZSA. On which, I made a Tmux layer where I've simplified most tmux commands from 3 keypresses down to one. e.g. Ctrl+Space Down is mapped to J. It's a macro where I've “hard coded” the tmux prefix into the macro. Is this possible on the Launch

My new Thelio computer arrived from #System76 today, so I'll be setting it up. It will probably be dual boot, but first I need to check out everything to make sure it works. *Then* I'll reformat the hard drives and corrupt it with *ugh* Windows 11.

I'll have to make sure to disable Recall and Copilot, too.

I've had so many #USBC ports crap out on me. My phone, kid's tablet, kid's laptop, school chromebooks. I'm still using my phone thanks to wireless charging. Amazingly, the kid's laptop is a few years old Lenovo laptop which also has a barrel connector power port (even though it shipped with a USB-C power supply), so I ordered a replacement barrel connector power supply.

No problems with my #System76 laptop, but that came with a barrel charger because someone at that company knows what's up.

Wolffe sporting the COSMIC Alpha 6 desktop with COSMIC DROID icons by SethStorm666 (and a few I threw together for this screenshot).

I could get used to this pretty quickly. It looks like COSMIC is shaping up to be a nice middle ground between GNOME's austere rounded-corner aesthetic and KDE's option-heavy business-suit aesthetic.

Hey, #KDE devs: have a look at how #COSMIC is doing tiling and COPY IT.
