Minoru Saba<p>Visited the Tachineputa no Yakata (Tachineputa Museum) in Goshogawara, Aomori Pref. Missed the Tachineputa Festival by about a week.<br />Didn&#39;t know that the huge tachineputa floats were only revived in 1998. Seems overhead electricity cables caused the floats to die out, but discovery of float blueprints in the early 90&#39;s led to a revival and burying the city power lines made parades possible again.<br /><a href="https://toad.social/tags/Tachineputa" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Tachineputa</span></a> <a href="https://toad.social/tags/Goshogawara" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Goshogawara</span></a> <a href="https://toad.social/tags/Aomori" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Aomori</span></a> <a href="https://toad.social/tags/Japan" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Japan</span></a><br /><a href="https://www.marugotoaomori.jp/en/sightseeing-experiences/the-worlds-tallest-paper-sculptures/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">marugotoaomori.jp/en/sightseei</span><span class="invisible">ng-experiences/the-worlds-tallest-paper-sculptures/</span></a></p>

Tachineputa floats were impressive, but so was the museum; the huge access doors reminded me of the VAB for the Saturn V.<br />Also, the シジミ (clam) ramen served in the museum restaurant was very good!<br /><a href="http://www.tachineputa.jp/outlook" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no"><span class="invisible">http://www.</span><span class="">tachineputa.jp/outlook</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>
Chad Kohalyk<p>These things are MASSIVE. And the designs are so cool! The building wall opens out in the summer to let them out on the street for a big festival. Then, after three years they TORCH 🔥 them 😢 Amazing to think how they revived this just in the past 30 years.</p><p><a href="https://indieweb.social/tags/tachineputa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>tachineputa</span></a> <a href="https://indieweb.social/tags/goshogawara" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>goshogawara</span></a> <a href="https://indieweb.social/tags/aomori" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>aomori</span></a> <a href="https://indieweb.social/tags/japan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>japan</span></a> <a href="https://indieweb.social/tags/festival" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>festival</span></a> <a href="https://indieweb.social/tags/matsuri" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>matsuri</span></a></p>
