Trump Cancels Deal With Tribes to Restore #ColumbiaRiverSalmon

"Less than two years ago, the administration of President Joe Biden announced what tribal leaders hailed as an unprecedented commitment to the Native tribes whose ways of life had been devastated by federal dam-building along the Columbia River in the Pacific Northwest.

"The deal, which took two years to negotiate, halted decades of lawsuits over the harm federal dams had caused to the salmon that had sustained those tribes culturally and economically for thousands of years. To enable the removal of four hydroelectric dams considered especially harmful to salmon, the government promised to invest billions of dollars in alternative energy sources to be created by the tribes.

"It was a remarkable step following repeated failures by the government to uphold the tribal fishing rights it swore in treaties to preserve.

"The agreement is now just another of those #BrokenPromises.

"President Donald Trump signed a memorandum on Thursday pulling the federal government out of the deal. Trump’s decision halted a government-wide initiative to restore abundant salmon runs in the Columbia and Snake rivers and signaled an end to the government’s willingness to consider removing dams that blocked their free flow."

#50501Movement Protest Group: Book #Trump #MilitaryParade Tickets, Then Don't Show

By Mandy Taheri
Published Jun 12, 2025

"Celebration and protest are expected to collide on Saturday as President Donald Trump's 79th birthday, the U.S. Army's 250th anniversary and hundreds of '#NoKings' demonstrations converge across the country.

"The protest group 50501 is urging supporters to reserve free tickets to Trump's planned military parade and then not attend, aiming to leave the event sparsely populated.

Why It Matters

"The protests, organized by the 50501 Movement (50 protests, 50 states, one movement) and other groups, are targeting a military parade scheduled to take place in the nation's capital on June 14, coinciding with Trump's 79th #unbirthday, the Army's 250th anniversary, and #FlagDay.

"Organizers of the protests are calling for June 14 to be a 'nationwide day of defiance' and are calling for both people to join in the protests as well as eat up tickets to the military parade."

HYPOCRITES! #Trump Suddenly Cares About ‘#Insurrectionists’ and Protecting Cops

The president pardoned hundreds of Jan. 6 rioters who assaulted police in one of his first presidential acts

By Nikki McCann Ramirez
June 9, 2025

"Insurrectionists beat cops with flag poles, crushed them with riot shields, tased them in the neck, and spat on them during the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. But when President Donald Trump claimed on Monday that he has no tolerance for 'insurrectionists' who clash with police officers, he wasn’t talking about the 1,500 rioters he pardoned upon assuming office earlier this year; he was talking about people in Los Angeles, California, protesting his administration’s anti-immigration actions.

"Speaking to reporters outside of the White House on Monday, the president claimed that demonstrators opposing sweeping ICE raids in L.A. were 'professional agitators, they’re insurrectionists, they’re bad people,' and that 'they should be in jail.'

"It’s clear that while there is public unrest in Los Angeles, the city is not in the throes of an active insurrection against the federal government — a claim Trump and his allies have repeatedly made since protests began on Friday. 'An insurrection against the laws and sovereignty of the United States,' White House Deputy Chief of Staff #StephenMiller wrote on X in response to videos of protesters blocking a highway. The president added on Sunday that 'a once great American City, Los Angeles, has been invaded and occupied by Illegal Aliens and Criminals […] now violent, insurrectionist mobs are swarming and attacking our Federal Agents to try and stop our deportation operations.'

"Unless the president invokes the #InsurrectionAct — an 1807 law that allows the president to deploy the military or the National Guard for the purpose of domestic law enforcement — members of the guard would be restricted largely to the protection of federal buildings.

"Local and state lawmakers have also stated unequivocally that the tensions in the city increased severely after Trump federalized National Guard troops for deployment in L.A. without the request or consent of California officials. Local officials in Los Angeles say that while there have been instances of protesters clashing with police, vandalizing property, and burning vehicles, the majority of such confrontations have been isolated, taken place at night, and — according to L.A. Police Chief Jim McDonnell — are not exemplary of 'the people that we see during the day who are legitimately out there exercising their First Amendment rights to be able to express their feelings about the immigration enforcement issue.'

"Trump, who resisted activating the National Guard on #January6 to quell the violence being carried out by his supporters against law enforcement, has now warned that disrespect toward law enforcement will be met with a show of force. 'Nobody’s going to spit on our police officers. Nobody’s going to spit on our military,' the president told reporters Monday, before posting on Truth Social: 'IF THE SPIT, WE WILL HIT.'

The administration’s top law enforcement officials are also warning against aggression toward law enforcement. “Hit a cop, you’re going to jail… doesn’t matter where you came from, how you got here, or what movement speaks to you,' FBI Director #FashPatel wrote. 'If the local police force won’t back our men and women on the thin blue line, we @FBI will.'

"Deputy FBI Director #DanBongino added that the agency would 'be investigating and pursuing all available leads for assault on a federal officer.'

" 'We will not forget. Even after you try to,' Bongino added.

"The statements ring a little hollow when one remembers that just a few months ago the president pardoned not only individuals who spit on cops, but who outright assaulted them. Miller, Patel, Bongino, and other administration figures have largely excused their actions and demonized the #BidenAdministration for pursuing legal action against the rioters. "

#Trump Deploys #Marines to a “Manufactured Crisis,” Defense Official Says

A defense official told The Intercept that Trump’s move to use Marines to stifle anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles is a “provocation.”

By Nick Turse, June 9, 2024

"Marines are headed to Los Angeles as the Trump administration ratchets up tensions that threaten to turn largely peaceful protests there into a full-blown crisis. It’s a rare and aggressive step to involve active-duty troops in civilian law enforcement activities.

"A defense official, speaking on the condition of anonymity for fear of retribution, called the activation of the Marines a 'provocation' designed to foster to a '#ManufacturedCrisis.'

"Experts question the legality of the mobilization of the Marines.

"On Saturday, President Donald Trump took the already extraordinary action of calling up more than 2,000 National Guard troops to tamp down demonstrations in California. In doing so, he exercised rarely used federal powers that bypassed Gov. Gavin Newsom’s authority.

"He followed it up two days later with an even more extreme move. While it is unclear under what authority Trump and the Defense Department did so, U.S. Northern Command activated 700 Marines from the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, assigned to Twentynine Palms, California. They are being shipped out to support Task Force 51 — a deployable command post used in crisis response — 'who are protecting federal personnel and federal property in the greater Los Angeles area,' according to a statement issued by NORTHCOM.

" 'The level of escalation is completely unwarranted, uncalled for, and unprecedented — mobilizing the best in class branch of the U.S. military against its own citizens,' Newsom’s office said in a statement.

" 'Military presence is not needed. The state is already working with local partners to surge 800+ additional state and local law enforcement officers into Los Angeles to clean up President Trump’s mess,' Tara Gallegos, a spokesperson for Newsom, told The Intercept by email.

"Experts say that the introduction of the Marines further strains civil-military relations and risks violation of the #PosseComitatus Act: a bedrock 19th-century law seen as fundamental to the democratic tradition in America. The Posse Comitatus Act bars federal troops from participating in civilian law enforcement."

Dine' tell Navajo Council 'NO COAL!'

The Monster has returned, and it is even more grotesque than the one before. Dine' remember forced relocation, the loss of water and medicine plants, and the loss of loved ones. Navajos say 'No!; to Trump and Navajo President Nygren's push for coal.

By #BrendaNorrell, @bsnorrell.blogspot.com June 1, 2025

#ForestLake, #NavajoNation -- "Dine' told the #NavajoNationCouncil that the #CoalIndustry has cost them their aquifer water, and their health. Combined with #UraniumMining, they have lost their loved ones to widespread #cancer and #BlackLungDisease killing their people.

"Dine' remembered #ForcedRelocation and the stripping of the #forest by #PeabodyCoal, during a hearing on Friday. The Navajo Council was told to stand up for #FutureGenerations, or step aside.

" 'The Navajo Nation has provided coal to the big cities for decades, while the people of #BlackMesa have nothing to show for it," Dine' from Black Mesa told the Council.

" 'We are supposed to be the Protectors of the Earth.'

"#LouiseBenally [#KleeBenally's aunt] of Big Mountain told the hearing that you can't trust what #Trump is telling you because he'll change whatever he says in the next sentence. Louise said he has no concept of what being a human is.

" 'Keep your prayers and your language, those are the things that really matter for us #IndigenousPeople,' said Louise. She and her family spent their lives resisting forced relocation brought by Peabody Coal's mining on Black Mesa.

" 'Everyone was opposed to another #CoalMining, it's not good for anything, and it is causing #GreenhouseGases to continue to rise,' Louise told Censored News.

" 'Doctor Nygren doesn't know that. He needs a hogan level of education.'

" '#ClimateChange is so, important to every living thing, we need to be finding solutions not making things worse.' "
