@knoppix95 this is nothing new.

#Lenovo almost always offered around €125 discount for "no operating system" and €100 for #UbuntuLTS over #Windows - if they offer any of those options at all

What is a problem is that Lenovo doesn't actually #Support even "#Ubuntu #certified" devices like the #P15v and it's #Intel #XMM7360-based #WWAN chip, the #Fibocom #850GL, at all, and they refuse to provide #drivers for it!

@topher the problem is the #Enshittifiaction and #Enfattening of #Websites and #Applications!

Seriously, I think that #Microsoft should be sued into insolvency for the way they create 100% avoidable #eWaste with #CensorBoot and #Windows11 to the point that if I didn't have my current job, I'd basically collect all the old machines from companies that are stupid enough to use #Windows [and they'll likely give them away for free minus SSDs / HDDs instead of paying €5+ for #recycling], shove some #Linux on [i.e. #RaspberryPiOS, #BunsenLabsLinux or #UbuntuLTS] and sell those off as used electronics for a good profit.

  • Einfach mal die IT dort fragen?

@topher #Antivirus is for the most part #Scareware aimed at scamming #TechIlliterates which at best only works against kniwn threats and at worst is literal #Malware in and of itself selling user data to bad actors.

As for the rest one can just scan #Fileservers regularly and do so on #Mailservers, but existing tools to enforce quick and early updates on those distros already do most of the heavy lifting re: #ITsec...

@S_Paternotte @GrapheneOS meanwhile I see #OpenAI literally using falsified #UserAgent|s and #DDoS'ing clients at work so hard I have to ban entire ASNs and /10 networks just because they ca't be assed to respect the robots.txt and refuse to accept beibg given 403 errors.

-Needless to say banning #GrapheneOS which are by far the most security-focussed and most diligent in terms of #Aftermarket-#Android-#ROM|s whilst not banning #outdated Android versions is like banning a "#SecureBoot|ed" #UbuntuLTS or #OpenBSD installation and going out of one's way to brick #Wine whilst still supporting #WindowsXP in 2025!
