Samsung Galaxy S25 One UI 8 Beta recruitment closed!

Ahead of the September release, One UI 8 Beta recruitment for the Galaxy S25 has been finally closed. For history, One UI 8 Beta Program has officially started on May 28th for the Galaxy S25 with build ZYER. Since then, the following versions were released, all in chronological order (Korea):

  • One UI 8 Beta 2 (build ZYF3): June 12th, 2025
  • One UI 8 Beta 3 (build ZYFA): June 30th, 2025
  • One UI 8 Beta 4 (build ZYGB): July 30th, 2025
  • One UI 8 Beta 5 (build ZYH6): August 19th, 2025

While the whole Beta program planning is still ongoing, because the expansion is going to target more devices on September, Samsung has shut down the recruitment for One UI 8 Beta Program for the Galaxy S25. This is all laid out in an official Samsung Members announcement below:

This kind of communication, as well as previous announcements for Beta 4 and Beta 5, was expected from Samsung. Therefore, One UI 8 Beta 5 for the Galaxy S25 has become the last beta version.

The stable rollout is expected to begin from the Galaxy S25, starting from Korea, and beta testers will get the update first. Beta testers are expected to update the system to the official version (can be identified with BYH? or BYI?) to be able to receive further updates.

While there is still no news about the One UI 8 Beta for watches, we should be hopeful. The rollout will be gradual, and every eligible device will be updated across more regions, starting from Korea.

Tentative logo of Android 17 Cinnamon Bun spotted!

Today is the release day of the much anticipated Google Pixel 10 phone, a successor of Google Pixel 9 released last year. It powers a much powerful Google Tensor G5 (4nm process) system on a chip (SoC) that provides you with the powerful octa-core processor and a Mali-G715 MC7 GPU. It will be released with Android 16, and the next version, called Android 17 Cinnamon Bun, is going to be its first upgrade for the phone series.

We found a tentative image of what appears to be the Android 17 logo that is contained by the pentagon shape (five sides). As usual, it’s set in the space, but with a large dark green square in the middle of the logo that contains nine smaller squares, each colored by lighter green. The “17” appears below the bigger square. You can finally see the logo below.

Currently, we couldn’t find a higher quality image, due to being a preliminary image of Android 17 Cinnamon Bun logo. We’ll find out more about Android 17 in the coming months.

Nitrocid 0.2.0 Tech Preview Announcement

The tech preview for the upcoming version of Nitrocid 0.2.0 is now globally available! We are very excited to announce the availability of this version after the big release of the second point release of the 0.1.x release series!

It contains all the changes that were made since the beginning of this year, which revolutionized the whole build system, as well as focusing on the major API changes, including the merger to the new Nitrocid library that every single mod can make use of, which is Nitrocid.Base. Currently, the .Base library contains basically the entire kernel and its APIs, except the real entry point, which is confined to the executable file that launches the kernel using the .Base library.

Additionally, we’ve incorporated some of the biggest improvements to both the build system and the general kernel. However, we are announcing one biggest change that was made to the whole Nitrocid kernel.

Nitrocid 0.2.0 will officially use the latest Terminaux 7.0 version series! Terminaux 7.0 was released on August 10th to bring many major feature additions and to present many general improvements. To learn more about Terminaux 7.0, consult the below link.

Announcement page

Nitrocid 0.2.0 Tech Preview will showcase the technical aspects of what will Nitrocid 0.2.0 look like when released early next year. We mean by technical aspects the APIs, the addons, and many internal improvements. This is a good entry point to the huge amount of features that will make it to the final release.

We are also very thrilled to announce that Nitrocid 0.2.0 Tech Preview includes the Chatbot AI by default, which is powered by ChatGPT with the official OpenAI library. This application can be easily launched from your main Nitrocid shell using the chatbot command, and it is installed as an addon instead of part of the kernel.

What are you waiting for? Get Nitrocid 0.2.0 Tech Preview today by checking the links here!

One UI 8 Adaptive Clock doesn’t work with third-party wallpaper apps

One UI 8 features the Adaptive Clock feature, which uses the subject detection mechanism to determine the foreground subject in your wallpaper, such as people or animals. However, people report that this feature doesn’t work if they used third-party wallpaper apps.

As you can see in a report, a pre-computing step identifies the subject in your wallpaper and adjusts the clock according to it. This is important for the adaptive clock in your lock screen, as the clock character heights are adjusted according to the subject geometry. If the pre-processing stage succeeds, and the conditions are met, you should see your attractive lock screen clock that looks similar to what is shown below:

However, there’s a catch when using this feature. Third-party wallpaper app users will not get to experience the adaptive clock, because the pre-processing step that is supposed to run before adjusting the adaptive clock doesn’t seem to run when you’re using that app directly to set the wallpaper. As a result, the adaptive clock won’t adjust itself to make the lock screen look beautiful.

https://youtu.be/JUQXR1NAQ2k

However, there’s a workaround. If your third-party wallpaper app provides an option to save an individual wallpaper to your device’s storage, you can set it as a wallpaper from the wallpaper settings on your device. The adaptive clock should then adjust itself according to the subject identified by the pre-processing step. Afterwards, you’ll get an attractive lock screen setup.

We hope that the third party application integration gets better in the stable version of One UI 8 scheduled this September.
