Sharing this just in case it's useful to other folks doing CLI-driven video editing...

I was looking for a video player to quickly identify accurate cut points in videos. Requirements:

- seek quickly 1 second forward/back in time

- view timestamps in seconds+milliseconds format, e.g. 901.5 instead of 00:15:01.5

VLC does the former but not the latter; MPlayer is the other way around.

Solution: mpv!

mpv --osd-msg2='${=time-pos}' --osd-level=2 --osd-fractions video.mp4
