#washingtonstate's Department of Health @WADeptHealth sends out a newsletter for vaccine providers every two weeks. (Sorry, I can't find a link, but you can subscribe to this newsletter at public.govdelivery.com/account). This is what they just sent out about the status of #covid #covid19 vaccines. It appears to be written after RFKJr's Roblox or whatever announcement but before yesterday's CDC sort-of walkback.

Thoughts and prayers to the health policy comms professionals who have to explain this mess.

Hello, it’s the weekly #washingtonstate #kingcounty (that is, #seattle and environs) #COVID #COVID19 #wastewater toots.

A quick reminder that this King County respiratory disease data comes from Washington State, not the federal government.

Let's start with the West Point (WSPT) sewage treatment plant. The 7-Day running average of the Sars-CoV-2 levels went down slightly. Last data is from 5/20.

WSPT is one of three King County(-ish) sewersheds in this dataset. You can find overviews, individual sewershed results, and a breakdown of variants for the state wastewater surveillance program, along with other metrics like case counts and hospitalizations for Covid-19 and other respiratory illnesses, at doh.wa.gov/data-and-statistica. If you go to the page and click "learn more" in the statewide view tab, you can find out lots of details about how these data are calculated and how to interpret them. The dashboard gets updated every Wednesday (generally). New! the Department of Health is here on the fediweb, at @WADeptHealth

Double Trouble for #Repair Monopolies: Washington Passes Two #RightToRepair Bills - #iFixit

Today, a quarter of Americans are covered by electronics Right to Repair

"We’re running out of high-fives over here.

"#WashingtonState just became the sixth state in the country to pass Right to Repair for electronics and the third to guarantee repair access for powered wheelchairs. Governor Bob Ferguson signed two bills into law today: #HB1483, covering consumer electronics and appliances, and #SB5680, covering mobility devices like powered wheelchairs and scooters. That’s a one-two punch for repair access and another major victory for fixers everywhere.

"Right to Repair is officially on a roll: With Washington now joining #NewYork, #California, #Minnesota, #Oregon, and #Colorado, about a quarter of all Americans (over 82 million people) live in states with electronics Right to Repair protections. That’s a huge share of the population who can now access parts, tools, and repair documentation for their devices. And it shows that the repair movement isn’t niche anymore. It’s national."

Canadians recall blast, fine ash from 1980 volcanic eruption at Mount St. Helens
It's been 45 years since the Mount St. Helens eruption in Washington state. British Columbians who were young adults at the time remember how the sky changed as the volcanic ash arrived.

Got out yesterday to explore a less traveled part of Washington State. I've been wanting to check out the area where the Palouse to Cascades Trail and the Columbia Plateau Trail cross. Both are rail-to-trail paths now operated by Washington State Parks, and both are pretty chunky gravel (though on the sections I saw, the CPT was worse). Bypassed some of the chunky section for gravel road, and just beat the rain back to my car. The intersection of the two trails was at this trestle, with no path to transfer between them, just a steep unmarked scramble.
