'Omnivorous? Vegan? Makes no difference to muscle building after weight training, study finds'

"A new study asked three questions about muscle protein synthesis in response to a nine-day diet and weight training regimen: First, does the source of protein — plant or animal-based — make any difference to muscle gain? Second, does it matter if total daily protein intake is evenly distributed throughout the day? And third, does a moderate but sufficient daily protein intake influence any of these variables? The answer to all three questions is “no,” the researchers found."

I have insomnia and can’t sleep, so I decided to head to the gym for a work out.

I am working out at the gym and listening to Warhammer 40K. I am listening to an audiobook from The Black Library. I am currently listening to/reading a Horus Heresy novel, Descent of Angels: Book 6.

As the mighty Lion El’Jonson strives to unify his feudal home world of Caliban, the coming of the Imperium brings a new destiny – and new division – for his knightly followers.

Landmine squats today. Not lifting as heavy as I used to, but my range of motion is still fantastic. As the coach says, any lower and I'd be leaving a stain.

Afterwards, I did box stepups, Cossack squats, and a bunch of stretches. Walking to and from the gym adds about 6km. Not nearly as fit as I was, but still not too shabby for my age. Feeling kinda wobbly now. Hoping I'll have enough left in the tank to write when I get home. #FitAfter50 #squats #WeightTraining

In a new study published in The British Journal of Sports Medicine, researchers found that while doing either aerobic exercise or strength training was associated with a lower risk of dying during the study’s time frame, regularly doing both — one to three hours a week of aerobic exercise and one to two weekly strength training sessions — was associated with an even lower mortality risk.
