Good morning.

9 May 2025
It’s raining today. I had planned to spend the whole day working in the yard, but the weather had other ideas.
The rain brings back memories of walking to school in the late ’50s or early ’60s, bundled up in a yellow raincoat and rainboots. It always felt like an adventure—rain pounding down on the hood, puddles waiting to be waded through, and a world made fresh by the storm. Back then, kids could walk to school alone or, at the very least, make their way to the school bus without much fuss. I suppose that still happens in some places. What once seemed like a long trek was probably just a couple of blocks, though it felt much farther through the eyes of a child.
And then there was the candy store along the way—but that’s a story for another time.
Rain, rain, go away, come again another day.
"The best thing one can do when it's raining is to let it rain." – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
