#Hamas continues to hold 66 hostages taken by the group during the #Oct7 attacks. Of those hostages, about 30 are believed to be alive. Hamas is also holding 2 hostages who were taken about a decade ago, as well as the remains of an Israeli soldier whose body was taken around the same time.

Hamas has offered to free all of the remaining #hostages from #Gaza at once, in return for a permanent #truce & a full #withdrawal of #Israel troops, per a stmnt Tues from spox Hazem Qassem.

I reckon Europe should pick up the Ukrainian flag and set up its own round of talks with Putin with #Ukraine attending (excluding #US ) and gazump the #trumpists by ensuring neither Ukraine nor the EU will accept anything less than a complete #withdrawal of #Russian forces back to the ‘agreed’ 1991 borders. Once that is made clear to Putin, the talk can start negotiating #reparations with the Russian aggressor.

Putin is afraid of the #EU and #Nato and like the bully that he is, Putin will cow under genuine pressure from the EU.

Whether that happens and whether the EU has the courage to face #BullyPutin remains the questions to ask.
