What a way to make a living: These musicians are advocating for fair wages
Festival season has almost arrived in Newfoundland and Labrador, and for musicians across the province that means it's time to get to work. But there isn't a set wage, and that can spell trouble during the busy period.

Ahh #corporate woes. Today is a day to recognize my chosen career -manager has made the appropriate post on internal Social Media, and invited us all to #sharethejourney which of course in our case-based pay environment is inviting us to participate in an unpaid activity that would require me to share personal info with ppl I’ve not met. My whole chested response is Thank you , NO. I’m paid by the case- I should do it for all the soft skills it would show but folx, I’m tired. #workwoes #work

At #work I found nearly 3TB of userland backups made by my team, stuff I asked them to take care of, and I'm not upset, but the storage started to run-lean, so I went poking about. One user here had over 550GB of backed up data. I laughed deeply, and my first thought was “Yeah, it's all dupey bullshit I bet…”

Yeah. It is: "Progress [1329713/1631812, 440601 pairs matched]" and it's been chugging away since yesterday afternoon... with 20% more to scan. LOL. #jdupes #infotech #DataStorage

"we are not able to provide additional feedback or information"

How you are *not able to* provide feedback on a candidate that you decided to reject? There are two possibilities:

1. You are just selecting randomly and therefore there is no feedback you can give
2. You *chose to* not explain your criteria.

Choosing to not give feedback and not being able to give feedback are significantly different things. Don't frame it like you have no choice.

FFS, just got some spam email for some junket on "how to write work evaluations with AI."

FML, how much more lazy do people need to get?

(I have separate thoughts on the bs that work evaluations are, but that is another story).

"Is it time to ditch your emotional support hoodie?" Boutayna Chokrane writes for @WIRED. Her piece examines how what we wear can affect how others perceive us in the workplace, and consequently, our opportunities. "The hoodie masquerades as an everyman’s garment, but in the office, it’s a rich man’s privilege. For the rest of us, it just makes it easier to be overlooked," she concludes. We want to know: Do you have different wardrobes for work and home? Tell us in the comments what you think.

The latest findings from the Family Resources Survey (FRS) have been published by the Department for Work and Pensions. The FRS is a continuous household survey which collects information on topics such as income, housing tenure, care needs, disability, education, pension participation and more. NatCen has carried out data collection for the survey every year since it launched in 1992. 🧵
