#Gemini I have removed the #shitware from my #Samsung phone using #adb and a terminal on my linux box. What I missed was to completely get rid of #Gemini , which was already disabled, but now it seems it can be completely uninstalled. So I did it today and haven't experienced any issues so far (the device has been powered off and on). Here's the package name in case you can't find it as Gemini: com.google.android.apps.bard

Surely there must be a way to use an #Android phone as a webcam using #scrcpy?

Enabling scrcpy (and #adb for what it's worth) was extremely easy on #NixOS. The webcam seems to work as well.

But when I try to make the browser detect the additional webcam it doesn't work.

Any ideas and/or suggestions?

So I have finally managed to build an "old" #android phone, into a fully stand alone, remote, utility device.
Took me most of the day. Because little things were getting in the way.
In the process I have learned to use the android #ADB shell which allows you to send command line instructions to un-rooted device via serial. You can even override admin permissions with debug functions!

WiFi, Cell, Remote desktop control.
Full functionality regained (after a reboot). Reboot is scheduled.

The device is #remote, about 130km away (in freedom units that's...who gives a fuck).

One of the major showstoppers for me was battery management, and to have full control of charging, the device needs to be rooted.
In the end , I elected to go with a mechanical timer to kick in for a "charge window" of about 4h a day.
This solution, though primitive I have first used 30 years ago and I still use it from time to time!

I have literally pulled this phone from my boneyard, and it's a Quad-Core with 32GB of ram.
So it's a pretty grunty remote CPU with camera and radio support for...
FREE.

Někdo tip, jak se dostat do #ADB, když ten telefon nejde ovládat a debugging je evidentně vypnutej?

Případně jinej nápad, jak to odzálohovat?

Note to myself: This makes an android device take a photo via USB or networked Android Debug Bridge adb (download it via adb pull)

I'm in dire need of a cellphone, even if it isn't smart, but #handy anyway, as it is my bridge to the internet.

I'm in the middle of no where and the handy is located on sort of cellTower in 5m high in a specific 8x20cm space where there is quite good connection for the antenna.

I only have #googleMaps activated, the rest is blocked or uninstalled.

@fdroidorg has the #auroraStore #APP to emulate access to specific playStore APP's.

I use #ADB #SCRCPY

Not that it is very important but I would like to use adb to pull files off my android phone and then have them in a tar archive. That could be done by putting the files somewhere and then making the archive. What would make me feel super cool would be if I could pipe the output of adb pull path/to/folder into tar but I couldn't work out how. There must be a way of doing it, but I am not clever enough to work it out.
