Just chattin’ with Adobe support.

What happened next will surprise *none* of you:

The support agent offered to cancel it right away.

And then they immediately attempted to upsell me on Acrobat AI Assistant.

In short, OutDesign frees InDesign files from #Adobe, which normally offers very few export formats to escape from this walled garden. OutDesign solves that issue, and the direct result is that the book Déborder Bolloré can now be read on the web, in EPUB format, and even printed at home in A4 or A5.

@albertcardona @donald_brady Now #darktable just needs well-developed integration with #SmugMug.

If they can make a SmugMug plugin that works as well as #Adobe #LightroomClassic that would go a long way to being able to finally dump LR.

Still working out how darktable will handle portability of insanely large catalogs. I use #Syncthing to portably use LR catalogs that are more than 15GB with cached offline thumbnails and it just works.

Does darktable support cached thumbs for offline media?

Adobe Illustrator's "I will not let you deselect an object that's hidden under any circumstances unless you re-show it or its parent layers and explicitly remove it from the selection but I will happily move it around secretly without visual feedback while it's still hidden as you manipulate other objects" is the most baffling UX choice I've ever seen in any application in history

Illustrator has this incredible... thing... going on where you can't easily select anything, can't easily deselect anything, can't move selected objects but can move hidden selected objects and it's... I don't know how you let your application get like this

I'm so glad I'm handing this job off to a colleague soon so I can sprint back to Affinity Designer

I'm stewing an idea for an essay called "Software from the End of the Human Centipede"; the basic premise is #Software made by people who've only ever used software to do tasks. I'm probably going to centre it around the #Affinity suite, and how it, in trying to do things differently from #Adobe's products, failed to understand how much of the logic of Adobe's apps was based around digitising physical work processes, and how much the physical informs the resultant methodology and #UI.

Anyone else being charged again by #ADOBE for a subscription abandoned years ago? Had to block my card, then they insist by mail that there was a problem with my payment and if I click the link in that mail to check my account, there's no subscription or pending invoice. I initially suspected phishing, it now looks a lot more like another hot mess at Adobe.
