Recently, I asked several random Americans what they thought about my idea of hitchhiking across the USA. To remind you, last year I hitchhiked through part of Europe and was absolutely thrilled with the experience.
Here's what's interesting: most Americans strongly advise against repeating such an experiment in their country. They say it's dangerous. But I still can't understand if this is a real objective danger or just a stereotype that has stuck in their minds.
In general, I'm slightly confused. I don't want to abandon the idea, but I also don't want to take thoughtless risks. Maybe someone has experience or an outside perspective?
