Part 2: On the shore

Also today we saw blue jellyfish and a moving toothed top shell, a type of sea snail. Mr Mothman-Spouse took a photo of us on the beach.

Part 1: At Sea

Today, Mothman and Mothman’s Mr Spouse went #wildlife searching around the Scilly Isles, firstly on a boat where we saw #puffins, #guillemots and #razorbills, atlantic #seals and a distant #PeregrineFalcon.

Not on photo, but we also saw #cormorants and even bagged a couple of #shags

McIver Issues Statement on Charges

NEWARK, NJ - Congresswoman LaMonica McIver (NJ-10) released the following statement responding to charges brought against her:

"Earlier this month, I joined my colleagues to inspect the treatment of ICE detainees at Delaney Hall in my district. We were fulfilling our lawful oversight responsibilities, as members of Congress have done many times before, and our visit should have been peaceful and short. Instead, ICE agents created an unnecessary and unsafe confrontation when they chose to arrest Mayor Baraka. The charges against me are purely political-they mischaracterize and distort my actions, and are meant to criminalize and deter legislative oversight. This administration will never stop me from working for the people in our district and standing up for what is right. I am thankful for the outpouring of support I have received and I look forward to the truth being laid out clearly in court."

Fun catching cliff swallows in flight & building mud nests. May seem obvious but I noticed that they 1st place mud footholds & use them to grasp while building out their nests. Caught better flight pic but cool to watch a flock take off at once

The grey heron is a large bird, standing up to 100 cm (40 in) tall and measuring 84–102 cm (33–40 in) long with a 155–195 cm (61–77 in) wingspan The body weight can range from 1.02–2.08 kg (2 lb 4 oz – 4 lb 9+1⁄4 oz) The plumage is largely ashy-grey above, and greyish-white below, with some black on the flanks. Adults have a white head and neck with a broad black supercilium that terminates in the slender, dangling crest, and bluish-black streaks on the front of the neck. The scapular feathers and the feathers at the base of the neck are somewhat elongated. Immature birds lack the dark stripe on the head and are generally duller in appearance than adults, with a grey head and neck, and a small, dark grey crest. The pinkish-yellow beak is long, straight, and powerful, and is brighter in color in breeding adults. The iris is yellow and the legs are brown and very long

The main call is a loud croaking "fraaank", but a variety of guttural and raucous noises are heard at the breeding colony. The male uses an advertisement call to encourage a female to join him at the nest, and both sexes use various greeting calls after a pair bond has been established. A loud, harsh "schaah" is used by the male in driving other birds from the vicinity of the nest and a soft "gogogo" expresses anxiety, as when a predator is nearby or a human walks past the colony. The chicks utter loud chattering or ticking noises

@neil Another situation in which alternative text helps is when for some reason Internet connectivity isn't perfect. If the connection drops out, the alt text will still show up even though the image fails to load.

Despite my vision being quite good, I lost out on being able to enjoy a meme because of a lack of alt-text. I could clearly see everything, but the logo in the meme was unfamiliar to me. Had alt-text been added to the picture, there is a good chance I could have found my answer there and enjoyed the meme like everyone else.

Alt-text is not just for the blind.
