So recent #FiveMillion Dollar Man #RickBeato a few hours ago dropped his #BradPaisley interview. It’s a #Milestone worthy of a milestone. From here Brad is as close to whatever prog #country might be while still being unshakably genre. There are clear indications Brad is thoroughly capable of wandering off that farm to benefit of all so we’ll just have to see. Also some clear #Amp history things. Family night worthiness in abundance

"As of today, Amp, our agentic coding tool, is available to everyone. The waitlist is gone — go, go and sign up and use it!

For the past 10 weeks, Amp has been the main tool with which I develop software and — putting yet another exclamation mark behind the fact that the tools we use end up changing us — it has fundamentally changed how I develop software.

So I thought I’d use the occasion to write up how I personally use Amp.

Having an agent that connects to your database is very, very close to the joy you feel when it takes screenshots and iterates on UI components.

Here’s how to do it.

First, tell the agent to use psql (or any other CLI utility) or the tools provided by the postgres MCP server (or any other MCP server for your database) to connect to your DB.

Then, ask it things like this:

Update my user account (email starts with thorsten) to have unlimited invites
Or:

Return me a list of users with the most number of threads, sorted by number of threads
The agent will then do everything it can to return you that list: figure out the schema of the database, try this query, try that query.

Look, here I wanted to change my local development database. It didn’t know what the schema is, so it tried to figure that out first, which it did — by running four commands in parallel:

Thoughts?

I'm not sure why, but my external 8Ω cab makes my Fender 65 Super Reverb reissue blow its fuse.

1) power and standby: off
2) unplug internal 2Ω speaker array from main speaker jack
3) plug 8Ω Fender GE 412 cab into main speaker jack
4) power on: red power light comes on
5) wait a bit, take it off standby: red power light goes out, fuse is blown
6) put everything back, power on, wait, take it off standby: everything's fine

The cab works with other amps.

hey #bass players! i’m looking for an #amp recommendation. currently the only one i have is a little 1x8 ampeg practice amp, i think only 30 or 35w. it’s fine for practice at home, but isn’t gonna handle much more than that.

i’m working on getting into an actual band(!) and will need an actual honest-to-god amp at some point in the near future, for rehearsals and probably small-venue gigs. i can spend a little bit on an amp, budget isn’t the biggest concern within reason, but i’m not looking for a super high-end rig that will cost thousands of dollars either.

what i’m really looking to get a feel for is: do i walk into Guitar Center or someplace and buy an affordable combo amp (200w-500w?) off the sales floor, or do i order a separate amp head and cabinet set? how much of a difference will it really make? have y’all had any success or horror stories with certain pieces of gear, brands, etc.?

not expecting y’all to have all the answers for my specific situation, but really interested to hear what kind of amps or other gear y’all like!
